Welcome to the Langhe and Roero, the gourmet heart of Piedmont, mostly located in the province of Cuneo, in the area that stretches from Alba southward towards the Ligurian Mountains.
An itinerary up and down these fantastic hills, immortalized by Cesare Pavese and Beppe Fenoglio, visits Alba, the small capital of the precious white truffle which, every year, from early October to early November, takes center stage at the Alba International White Truffle Fair, featuring market exhibitions, tastings, and shows.
La Morra, with its evocative medieval center perched atop the hill and, in the background, the snow-capped Alps; Verduno, home to a castle with century-old cellars where you can dine and stay overnight right above the ancient barrels. Barolo, with the imposing Falletti castle, recently restored, and its grandiose Wine Museum.
Barbaresco, homeland of the eponymous ruby-colored nectar; Pollenzo, an ancient Roman village that cultivates the heritage of food and wine; Cherasco, the connecting link between the Langhe and Roero, dense with medieval and baroque palaces and monuments. And Grinzane Cavour, with the beautiful castle of Count Camillo Benso, the unforgettable Piedmont statesman.
