Welcome to the Langhe and Roero, the gourmet heart of Piedmont, mostly located in the province of Cuneo, in the strip that descends from Alba southwards towards the Ligurian Mountains.
An itinerary up and down these fantastic hills, immortalized by Cesare Pavese and Beppe Fenoglio, leads to Alba, the small capital of the precious white truffle which, every year from early October to early November, becomes the star of the International White Truffle Fair of Alba, with a trade show, tastings, and performances.
La Morra, with its charming medieval center perched on top of the hill and, in the background, the Alps capped with snow; Verduno, home to a castle with centenary cellars, where you can have lunch and stay overnight right above the ancient barrels. Barolo, with the imposing Falletti manor, recently restored, and its grandiose Wine Museum.
Barbaresco, homeland of the homonymous ruby-colored nectar; Pollenzo, an ancient Roman village where memories of food and wine are cultivated; Cherasco, a connecting link between the Langhe and the Roero, full of palaces and medieval and baroque monuments. And Grinzane Cavour, with the beautiful castle of Count Camillo Benso, the unforgettable Piedmontese statesman.
