Conegliano
Recommended is a walk in Contrada Granda, in the center of Conegliano. The town is well known in Italy and worldwide for the fame brought by its great painter Gian Battista Cima (1459-1518), for the first Enological School established in Italy (1876), and especially for Prosecco Docg. A curiosity: in 1574, during the passage of Henry III King of Poland, who was going to Paris to be crowned King of France, the community of Conegliano made white wine from the hills flow for an entire day from Neptune’s fountain, a tradition that has been repeated on important occasions. The book “Conegliano with the taste in the mouth and eyes upwards,” published by Club Magnar Ben, gathers anecdotes and food and wine curiosities of this authentic Venetian gem for a journey into the taste and history of the “Urbs Picta”, the painted city.
