Mill Museum Galleu, Ozieri

Since 1922, the Galleu Company has been engaged in cereal milling, installing a gas-dust (coal) powered palmenti mill. In 1984, the new Mill was built to meet wider market demands, both in terms of quality and quantity. Thanks to perseverance, research, and care in collecting machines, tools, and every other equipment related to the miller profession, it has been possible to preserve those apparatuses, instruments, and tools that today allow the creation of a museum rich in history and traditions. For several years, there has been a close collaborative relationship with the Ozieri Civic Museum, on the occasion of setting up ethnographic exhibitions, particularly those concerning the art of Milling and Breadmaking. The recovery and activation of an ancient palmenti mill is the strength of the Museum. The purpose of this work is to make known, especially to school groups and tourists, the ancient milling methods by directly witnessing the transformation of grain into flour.
