The Historical Museum of the Sardinian Grenadiers in Rome was founded in 1903. The foundation stone of the Museum building was laid on June 3, 1922, in the presence of Victor Emmanuel III.

The Historical Museum of the Sardinian Grenadiers in Rome was founded in 1903. The foundation stone of the Museum building was laid on June 3, 1922, in the presence of Victor Emmanuel III.

On June 3, 1924 (the 265th anniversary of the Corps’ establishment), the Museum was inaugurated in the presence of the House of Savoy monarchs.

In the Museum, visitors can explore 15 exhibition rooms featuring:

  • Italian and foreign weapons from various eras.
  • Photographs dating back to the Great War.
  • Reasons for Gold Medals of Military Valor.
  • Maps of the locations where the various Grenadier units fought.
  • Flags and personal items from private donations.
  • The Grenadiers’ Shrine with inscriptions of the names of over 8,500 Grenadiers fallen in all wars.
  • A statue depicting the meeting in Teano between Giuseppe Garibaldi and King Victor Emmanuel II.
  • A bust of Duke Carlo Emanuele II (1659).
  • Paintings of historic battles of Goito, Custoza, Mola di Gaeta, and Perugia.
