Il Historical Museum of the Sardinian Grenadiers in Rome was founded in 1903. The foundation stone of the Museum building was laid on June 3, 1922, in the presence of Vittorio Emanuele III.
On June 3, 1924 (the 265th year of the Corps’ establishment), the Museum was inaugurated in the presence of the House of Savoy rulers.
In the Museum, you can visit in the 15 exhibition rooms:
- Italian and foreign weapons from various eras.
- Photographs dating back to the Great War.
- Reasons for Gold Medals for Military Valor.
- Maps of places where various Grenadier units fought.
- Banners and personal items from private donations.
- The Grenadiers’ Shrine with inscriptions of the names of over 8,500 Grenadiers fallen in all Wars.
- A statue depicting the meeting at Teano between Giuseppe Garibaldi and King Vittorio Emanuele II.
- A bust of Duke Carlo Emanuele II (1659).
- Paintings of the historic battles of Goito, Custoza, Mola di Gaeta, and Perugia.
