The 13th-century Templar tower hosts a permanent exhibition of prehistoric artifacts (stone tools and fossils) found in the Agro Pontino area, with particular attention to the Neanderthal man (skull from the Guattari cave of Monte Circeo)
The purpose of the Exhibition, among the first of its kind in Italy, was to introduce the local and tourist community to the important prehistoric archaeological heritage of Circeo and the Pontine area, with scientific rigor but presented in an informative and educational way.
The five exhibition rooms illustrate the most significant natural, biological, and cultural events of the Quaternary Era, with special emphasis on the heritage of Circeo and the Pontine region, known for its extraordinary geomorphological, paleoecological, and prehistoric evidence.
