The “Villa Garibaldi” Museum of Cultures testifies to the presence and meeting of different cultural identities in a village that, since ancient times, has been a borderland and, thanks to the Via Valeria, a Roman consular road and ancient pastoral route, is an important crossroads of trade. The museum offers archaeological, historical, and ethno-anthropological collections. The archaeological finds range from the archaic period to those of the Aequi and then the Romans. The subsequent history is also represented by fine reconstructions and unique objects including memorabilia of the Garibaldi family, a branch of which built the palace that houses the museum. The testimonies related to local cultures consist of extensive collections of traditional material objects and visual and sound documentation regarding the intangible cultural heritage.
