A tour among the hundreds of cellars nestled between hills and slopes can be useful not only to learn about a lot of wine culture but also to taste the products. Among these is also that of Josko Gravner, whose whites, fresh and lively, rest underground in very original skins imported from Armenia. Another famous producer is Marco Felluga, whose extensive range of wines comes from the grapes in the estates of Gradisca and Russiz Superiore. The quintessential sweet of Friuli is the gubana, which, in the Gorizian version, materializes into a puff pastry roll with a generous filling scented with spices and citrus fruits: those of Pasticceria Centrale, in San Pietro al Natisone, and those of Giuditta Teresa, in the locality of Ponte San Quirino, are irresistible. Also, in terms of cured meats, Goriziano does not joke and offers, among many, the hams of Lorenzo d’Osvaldo, in Cormons, obtained from the meat of Duroc breed pigs, slightly smoked with aromatic herbs and cherry wood. Cheese lovers finally find a quality address in Borgnano, at Giuseppe Zoff’s Cheese Factory, renowned for the production of very fresh yogurts and fragrant ricottas.
