A tour among the hundreds of cellars nestled between hills and slopes can be useful not only to learn about so much wine culture but also to taste its products. Among these, there is also that of Josko Gravner, whose white wines, fresh and lively, rest underground in very original skins imported from Armenia. Another famous producer is Marco Felluga, whose extensive range of wines comes from grapes grown in the estates of Gradisca and Russiz Superiore. The quintessential sweet of Friuli is the gubana, which, in the Gorizia version, takes the form of a puff pastry roll with a generous filling scented with spices and citrus: irresistible are those from Pasticceria Centrale, in San Pietro al Natisone, and those from Giuditta Teresa, in the locality of Ponte San Quirino. Even when it comes to cured meats, Goriziano does not joke, offering, among many others, the hams of Lorenzo d’Osvaldo, in Cormons, obtained from Durok breed pigs, lightly smoked with aromatic herbs and cherry wood. Cheese lovers finally find a quality address in Borgnano, at Giuseppe Zoff’s dairy, renowned for the production of very fresh yogurts and fragrant ricottas.
