The “Museum of Pots in History” was founded in 1985 by AMC Italia S.P.A. The wing reserved for the Museum was specially built in 1984 and is located inside the modern headquarters of AMC Italia. It is visitable by appointment for groups on weekdays (excluding Saturday and Sunday).
From 1980 onwards, unique examples of cooking tools were researched throughout Italy. The material was restored and dated according to the criteria of the Archaeological Museum of Milan, then a selection of the best and most representative specimens was made.
The collection ranges from the 3rd millennium BC to the present day, also including pieces of futuristic metallurgy.
Among other things, you can admire the reconstruction of a coppersmith’s workshop with all the tools to make pots, perfectly functioning. There are Roman and Apulian finds, earthenware and metal pots, the first pressure cooker from 1930, “armed” pots with an iron mesh similar to fishing nets characteristic of the Italian coasts from the 1300s onwards, pieces from the kitchens of Renaissance Courts and modern reinterpretations of traditional pots from all over the world. Finally, you can also find working authentic period doll stoves (1800s doll kitchens) on display.
