The “Cookware Museum in History” was founded in 1985 by AMC Italia S.P.A. The wing reserved for the Museum was specially built in 1984 and is located within the modern headquarters of the AMC Italia Company. It is open by appointment for groups on weekdays (excluding Saturdays and Sundays).
From 1980 onwards, unique specimens of cooking tools were researched throughout Italy. The material was restored and dated according to the criteria of the Archaeological Museum of Milan, then a selection of the best and most representative specimens was made.
The collection spans from the 3rd millennium BC to the present day, including pieces of futuristic metallurgy.
Among other things, you can admire the reconstruction of a coppersmith’s workshop with all the tools to make pots, fully functional. There are Roman and Apulian artifacts, earthenware and metal pots, the first pressure cooker from 1930, pots “armed” with a mesh of iron similar to fishing net characteristic of the Italian coasts from the 1300s onwards, pieces from the kitchens of Renaissance Courts, and a modern reinterpretation of traditional pots from around the world. Finally, you can also find authentic, functioning antique doll stoves (doll kitchens from the 1800s) on display.
