The “Museum of Cookware in History” was founded in 1985 by AMC Italia S.P.A. The wing reserved for the Museum was specifically built in 1984 and is located inside the modern headquarters of AMC Italia. It is open by appointment for groups on weekdays (excluding Saturday and Sunday).
From 1980 onwards, unique specimens of cooking instruments were sought throughout Italy. The materials were restored and dated according to the criteria of the Archaeological Museum of Milan, then the best and most representative specimens were selected.
The collection spans from the 3rd millennium BC to the present day, also including pieces of futuristic metallurgy.
Among other things, you can admire the reconstruction of a coppersmith’s workshop with all the tools for making pots, perfectly functioning. There are Roman and Apulian artifacts, earthenware and metal pots, the first pressure cooker from 1930, “armored” pots with an iron mesh similar to fishing nets characteristic of the Italian coasts from the 1300s onward, pieces from the kitchens of Renaissance Courts, and modern reinterpretations of traditional pots from around the world. Finally, you can also find authentically functioning period doll stoves from the 1800s on display.
