Nuremberg Christmas Market, Christkindlesmarkt

Among the stalls of the ancient Nuremberg Christmas market, one might come across the scent of cinnamon, cloves, and orange peel from feuerzangenbowle, a traditional German drink, which can be literally translated as “punch with fire tongs,” referring to its distinctive preparation on an iron grater (Feuerzange), on which a block of sugar soaked in rum is burned, caramelizing and falling into the bowl of red wine below.
