Nuremberg Christmas Market, Christkindlesmarkt

Among the stalls of the ancient Nuremberg Christmas Market, you may come across the scent of cinnamon, cloves, and orange peel from the feuerzangenbowle, a traditional German drink, which can be literally translated as “punch with flaming tongs,” referring to its characteristic preparation on an iron grater (Feuerzange), on which a sugar loaf soaked in rum is set on fire, caramelizing and falling into the bowl of red wine underneath.
