Il sale di Cervia, the absolute protagonist of this journey, is presented in a delicate weave of nature, history and culture, chemistry, physics, place of relationships, work, memory and flavors.
Inside the Museo del Sale di Cervia, a bridge has been created in the exhibit that crosses a large geographic-territorial model of the coast and the hinterland, focusing attention on the territory in its relationship between salt pans, city and sea, and is dominated by a large sail with the typical colors of the Cervese seafaring as a testimony of how that sea has been understood and honored as a source of life.
The central theme of the Museum is therefore focused on the history and experience of the salt workers who represent a fundamental point in the growth of the Cervese territory. They have constituted a presence within the city, in meeting and market places, and in the salt pans intent on recreating the ancient ritual of harvesting the precious mineral.

The visit to the Museo del Sale di Cervia offers a complete picture of salt-working activity, presenting tools, instruments, photographic images alongside the elegant ‘burchiella’, the typical boat used for transporting salt from the salt pans to the storage warehouses.
