The salt of Cervia, the absolute protagonist of this journey, is presented in a delicate blend of nature, history and culture, chemistry, physics, a place of relationships, work, memory and flavors.
Inside the Salt Museum of Cervia, an installation includes a bridge crossing a large geographical-territorial model of the coast and hinterland that focuses attention on the territory in its relationship between salt pans, city, and sea. It is dominated by a large sail with the typical colors of the Cervia seafaring tradition, testifying to how that sea has been understood and honored as a source of life.
The central theme of the Museum is therefore focused on the history and experience of the salt workers who represent a fundamental point in the growth of the Cervia territory. They have been a presence within the city, in meeting and market places, and in the salt pans engaged in reenacting the ancient rite of harvesting the precious mineral.

The visit to the Salt Museum of Cervia offers a complete image of the salt harvesting activity, presenting tools, instruments, photographic images alongside the elegant ‘burchiella’, the typical boat used for transporting salt from the salt pans to the storage warehouses.
