Il sale di Cervia, the absolute protagonist of this path, is presented in a delicate intertwining of nature, history and culture, chemistry, physics, place of relationships, work, memory and flavors.

Inside the Museo del Sale di Cervia, a bridge has been created in the exhibition that crosses a large geographical-territorial model of the coast and the hinterland, focusing attention on the territory in its relationship between salt pans, city and sea, and is dominated by a large sail with the typical colors of Cervese maritime tradition as a testimony to how that sea has been understood and honored as a source of life.

The central theme of the Museum is therefore focused on the history and experience of the salt workers who represent a fundamental point in the growth of the Cervese territory. They constituted a presence within the city, in meeting and market places and in the salt pans engaged in reproducing the ancient ritual of collecting the precious mineral.

The visit to the Museo del Sale di Cervia offers a complete picture of salt farming activity, presenting tools, instruments, photographic images alongside the elegant ‘burchiella’, the typical boat used for transporting salt from the salt pans to the storage warehouses.
