The Ceramic Cooperative of Imola has been active since 1874, and the museum was established in 1979 to preserve its historical memory. The tour is divided into three sections, dedicated respectively to the evolution of the decorations produced by the company’s Artistic Section, to the ceramists who influenced the types of artistic and industrial production, and finally to the works created here by contemporary artists.

In the eponymous Hall, the serial production of decorations created by the Artistic Section is preserved. It is thus possible to observe both the continuity and the evolution of tastes and styles (among other things, you can notice the introduction of the blue carnation, suggested by Giò Ponti, which revisits a traditional motif but with a hue unique to the Imola Ceramic Cooperative). In the Authors’ Hall, a series of panels with marks help the visitor to identify, chronologically, both the artistic and industrial production of the company. Here, the most significant ceramists who worked at the company are represented with their works. In the Contemporary Artists’ Hall, finally, works created from 1981 onwards by great contemporary artists at the Imola Ceramic Cooperative are exhibited. Among others, they include Hsiao Chin, Remo Brindisi, Enrico Baj, Lucio Del Pezzo, Agenore Fabbri, Tullio Pericoli, Gianfranco Pardi, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Aldo Spoldi, Emilio Tadini, Joe Tilson, testifying to ‘Imola’s’ conscious pursuit of a fruitful relationship with the living currents of contemporary art.
