The 13th-century Templar tower houses a permanent exhibition of prehistoric artifacts (lithic tools and fossils) found in the Agro Pontino area, with particular attention to the Neanderthal man (skull from the Guattari cave of Monte Circeo)
The purpose of the Exhibition, one of the first of its kind in Italy, was to introduce the local and tourist community, with scientific rigor but in an informative and educational way, to the important prehistoric archaeological heritage of Circeo and the Pontine territory.
In the five rooms of the exhibition, the most significant natural, biological, and cultural events of the Quaternary Era are illustrated, with particular regard to the heritage of Circeo and the Pontine region with its extraordinary geomorphological, paleoecological, and prehistoric evidence.
