The 13th-century Templar tower houses a permanent exhibition of prehistoric artifacts (lithic artifacts and fossils) found in the Agro Pontino area, with particular attention to Neanderthal man (skull from the Guattari cave of Monte Circeo)
The purpose of the Exhibition, one of the first of its kind in Italy, was to introduce the local and tourist Community to the important prehistoric archaeological heritage of Circeo and the Pontine area through scientific rigor, but in a popular and educational manner.
In the five exhibition rooms, the most significant natural, biological, and cultural events of the Quaternary Era are illustrated, with particular regard to the heritage of Circeo and the Pontine region with its extraordinary geomorphological, paleoecological, and prehistoric evidence.
