In the historic center of Vizzini, besides churches and fine palaces scattered along the streets, a museum of the “Verghian Imaginary” has been created, containing photographs of Giovanni Verga as well as a series of memorabilia, many related to the photographic equipment the Master used. A permanent exhibition set up in the 18th-century Palazzo Costa, which belonged to Gesualdo Costa, a famous surgeon of the 1930s.
Inside the museum, there is a collection of photos from film sets inspired by Verga’s works such as “Mastro Don Gesualdo,” “Cavalleria Rusticana,” and “La Lupa.”
This heritage aims to show how great artists have narrated events and episodes that happened in Sicily and how they made them known worldwide. The images depict the interior of the museum with the photo collection.
