In 1923-1924, the Municipality decided to create a cinema hall inside a deconsecrated church from 1893, known as the ‘Chiesa Nuova’, built at the end of the eighteenth century. In the mid-1970s, this hall was restored and modified by adding a small stage, allowing for theatrical performances as well as film screenings. The original church was divided into two floors: the first floor housed the Municipal Council Hall, and the ground floor the so-called Estense Hall. This room, consisting of an orchestra and a single gallery, is supported by fluted columns with white stucco capitals in a late Art Nouveau style; the stucco decorations of the gallery balustrade are in the same style. The only remaining part of the ancient church is the portal on the building’s facade.
