The museum, housed in the Palazzo Bossi Bocchi, consists of a collection of paintings that document the figurative culture of Parma from the 16th to the 20th century. Two panels by Cristoforo Caselli known as il Temperello and a splendid drawing by Parmigianino date back to the early 1500s. Between the 17th and 20th centuries are works by Felice Boselli, Cristoforo Caselli, Giovanni Paolo Panini, Francesco Antonio Simonini, Louis Michel Van Loo, Alberto Pasini, Roberto Guastalla, Cecrope Barilli, Luigi and Salvatore Marchesi, Giulio Carmignani, Giambattista Borghesi, Daniele De Strobel, Amedeo Bocchi, Donnino Pozzi, and Bruno Zoni. The exhibition is completed by a collection of Italian ceramics and porcelain from the 15th-16th centuries, a banknote collection from the Unification of Italy to today, other collections of furniture from Parma, prints and drawings of the city and the duchy. There is also an interesting section dedicated to forgeries and forgery techniques.
