The Chili Pepper Museum is housed in the historic Palazzo Ducale and is managed by the Italian Chili Pepper Academy Onlus of Diamante. The museum route is structured into several rooms: the “Fantasy of Every Part” room which collects tools and objects of various kinds; the “The Paths of the Chili Pepper” room with a documented explanation of the areas of origin of the plant; the “Plants, Perfumes and Flavors” room with a collection of different types of seeds, spices, and chili pepper sauces. Important exhibits include a lithograph by Renato Guttuso and the image of the chili pepper taken from a 16th-century recipe book found in Frankfurt. The route ends with the video room featuring advertising posters that used the chili pepper as a media device and satirical cartoons.
