A rural life event rooted in the Middle Ages will take place again this year on September 18th. The sheep’s route starts from the Pyrenean valleys of Roncal and Salazar to reach its destination at the Bardenas Reales.
All around, the setting is harsh but fascinating, with outlines sketched by peaks, desolate moors, vast plateaus that, on September 18th, suddenly teem with life so that the transhumance ritual can take place, awaited not only by nature itself but also by tourists who gather here to witness this event.
The shepherds, after bringing the flocks to their destinations, join visitors to feast on migas, txistorra, and good wine, specialties of the area and the rural tradition of the region.
