Almost 40 years after their discovery, following restoration, the Giants of Monte Prama have once again made headlines. These imposing full-round sculptures were meticulously reassembled with painstaking patience and today are displayed in all their glory in the two museum centers of Cagliari and Cabras, while waiting for the completion of works in the latter location, to which they territorially belong. It will be only at the end of this phase that the statues, called Kolossoi by the most important Sardinian archaeologist Giovanni Lilliu, will rightfully return near the site where they were recovered.
Archers, boxers, and a warrior appear enchanting alongside scale models of nuraghes, showing us the various types sculpted between the 9th and 7th centuries BC. Part of a monumental Heroon whose mystery is yet to be fully uncovered, for now they tell their story in these two temporary exhibitions which have already seen endless lines of visitors from the very first days.
Sardinia aims to make the Giants of Monte Prama from Cabras its ambassadors, focusing on the culture and uniqueness of its Nuragic civilization.
