Almost 40 years after their discovery, at the end of the restoration, the Giants of Monte Prama, imposing freestanding sculptures, reassembled with painstaking patience, have started making news again and today they are shown in all their splendor in the two museum centers of Cagliari and Cabras, awaiting the completion of the work in the latter location, to which they territorially belong. It will indeed be only at the end of this phase that the statues, defined as Kolossoi by the most important Sardinian archaeologist Giovanni Lilliu, will rightly return near the place where they were recovered.
Archers, boxers, and a warrior appear enchanting together with the scale models of nuraghe and show us the various types sculpted between the 9th and 7th centuries BC. Part of a monumental Heroon whose mystery is yet to be revealed, for now they tell us their story in these two temporary exhibitions that from the very first days have seen endless queues of visitors.
Sardinia intends to make the Giants of Monte Prama of Cabras its ambassadors, focusing on the culture and uniqueness of its nuragic civilization.
