The Museum is located between the choir and the sacristy of the Church of San Domenico. It was established by the Prior and the Superintendency of Galleries in 1956 to gather the works that until then were in the church and convent.

In the lower room, there are works ranging from the 14th to the 18th century, including the Mystic Marriage of Saint Catherine by Filippino Lippi, the Crucifix by Giunta Pisano, Saint Thomas by Guercino. There is also a 14th-century illuminated choir book and valuable reliquaries including that of St. Thomas Aquinas from the 15th century and the finger of Saint Louis of France from the 13th century.

In the upper hall, numerous religious furnishings are displayed, such as candlesticks, censers, chalices, and a 17th-century canopy which, together with the Mantle of Our Lady of the Rosary, was offered in vow by the Bolognese to the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary in 1630 for the end of the plague.
