Il Museo è situated between the choir and the sacristy of the Church of San Domenico. It was created by the Prior and the Superintendent of Galleries in 1956 to gather the works that until then were in the church and the convent.
In the lower room are works ranging from the 1300s to the 1700s, including the Mystic Marriage of Saint Catherine by Filippino Lippi, the Crucifix by Giunta Pisano, Saint Thomas by Guercino. Also noted is a 14th-century illuminated choirbook and valuable reliquaries including that of St. Thomas Aquinas from the 1400s and the finger of Saint Louis of France from the 1200s.
In the upper room are numerous religious furnishings, such as candlesticks, incense burners, chalices, and a 17th-century canopy which, along with the Mantle of Our Lady of the Rosary, was offered in vow by the Bolognese to the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary in 1630 for the end of the plague.
