The Rovereto Christmas Market will open its doors on November 27, welcoming visitors in a magical, festive atmosphere all the way through the New Year.
Until January 2, 2011, 56 beautifully decorated wooden stalls will delight visitors and anyone who loves the traditions of Christmas.
The colorful Rovereto Christmas Market is open daily (except December 25) from 10 am to 7 pm, with extended hours until 8 pm every Friday and Saturday. The stalls are spread across Corso Rosmini, Piazza Erbe, Piazza S. Marco, Piazza Malfatti, Piazza Loreto, and Via Garibaldi, offering traditional sweets, delicious local dishes, artisan crafts, and plenty of unique gift ideas.
This year, thanks to the Natale dei Popoli event, the Rovereto Christmas Market will also host stands from Salento, creating a blend of northern and central European Christmas traditions with the flavors and culture of southern Italy.
But the Rovereto Christmas Market is far more than just a shopping village. Numerous events will bring the city and market areas to life right up through January 2. For example, on Saturday, December 4, the lighting ceremony for the Grand Christmas Tree in Piazza Rosmini will take place. Every weekend, the market will be filled with enchanting music and carols from both Trentino and around the world.
It’s a truly immersive market, where visitors are transported into an enchanting atmosphere—even musically. It’s a place that welcomes everyone into a timeless Christmas wonderland.
Of course, children are in for a treat at the Rovereto Christmas Market. In Piazza Erbe, the Storytelling Hut and its enchanted garden await, as well as the Children’s Market. And don’t be surprised if Santa Claus suddenly appears with his elves, ready to greet everyone and hand out candy to the sound of the Santa Claus Band.
Plenty of fun is guaranteed on the ice skating rink in Piazza Malfatti: enjoy a spin on the ice amidst the aromas of the Flavors Market surrounding the rink. After working up an appetite, treat yourself to delicious Trentino specialties—perhaps a warm strudel—while adults can warm up with mulled wine.
At the Rovereto Christmas Market, New Year’s Eve is celebrated with joy and excitement, thanks to three special events: New Year’s on Ice, Children’s New Year, and the Market’s New Year celebration.
From 10 pm on December 31, ring in midnight together accompanied by good music and a wonderful ice show. The next day, January 1 at 3 pm in Piazza Erba, the youngest guests welcome the New Year at the Children’s New Year, with thousands of balloons released into the sky!
Finally, at 5 pm, music and sparkling Trentino bubbles in Piazza Rosmini will help everyone toast to a happy New Year.
