Il Rovereto Christmas Market will open its doors on November 27th to accompany visitors until after New Year’s, in a magical atmosphere full of Christmas spirit.
Until January 2nd, 2011, there will be 56 festively decorated wooden huts waiting for the curious and all those who love Christmas traditions.
The colorful Rovereto Christmas Market will be open every day (except December 25th) from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with extended hours until 8 p.m. every Friday and Saturday. The huts will be located along Corso Rosmini, Piazza Erbe, Piazza S. Marco, Piazza Malfatti, Piazza Loreto, and Via Garibaldi, in a succession of typical sweets, delicious dishes, local handicrafts, and many useful ideas for Christmas gifts.
This year, for the Natale dei Popoli event, the Rovereto Christmas Market will host stands from Salento, blending traditions from northern Italy and central Europe with those of southern Italy.
Far from thinking that the Rovereto Christmas Market is just a mere village set up for product display, on the contrary, many related events will animate the entire town and the areas interested by the Christmas excitement until January 2nd. For example, on Saturday, December 4th, the inauguration and lighting ceremony of the Grand Christmas Tree in Piazza Rosmini will take place. Moreover, every weekend, the entire Rovereto Christmas Market will be filled with enchanting melodies and traditional gifts from both Trentino and around the world.
An “engaging” market, therefore, also from a sound perspective; a market that pampers visitors by transporting them into a magical space-time dimension.
Of course, at the Rovereto Christmas Market, special attention is also given to children, by setting up magical spaces just for them: in Piazza Erbe, for example, there will be the Storytelling House with its enchanted garden and the Children’s Market. Do not be surprised if, suddenly, Santa Claus appears with his elves, busy greeting everyone and handing out candies among the market huts, to the rhythm of the music played by his Santa Claus Band.
Fun is also guaranteed on the ice skating rink in Piazza Malfatti: you can stretch your legs by spinning on the ice, among the scents of the Flavors Market arranged around the rink: after so much energy spent skating, it is right to refresh yourself with good typical products of Trentino, perhaps with a fragrant strudel, while the adults warm up with some mulled wine.
At the Rovereto Christmas Market, even New Year’s Eve will be celebrated with emphasis and cheer, thanks to three events already scheduled: the New Year on Ice, the Children’s New Year, and the Market’s New Year.
From 10 p.m. on December 31st, midnight will be awaited in company, to the notes of good music and with the complicity of a wonderful ice show. The little ones, instead, will welcome the New Year on January 1st, at 3 p.m. in Piazza Erba: for the Children’s New Year, thousands of balloons will be released into the sky!
Finally, at 5 p.m. on the same day, the Piazza Rosmini Market will be animated by music and good luck toasts for the new year with the flavor of excellent Trentino sparkling wine.
Great magic and many events, therefore, in the Rovereto Christmas Market, an enchanted place that brings joy, carefreeness, and companionship, in the charming Trentino.
