Pietro D’Oberlein Zoology Museum, Palermo

Owned by the University of Palermo, it houses collections dating mainly from the second half of the nineteenth century. Notable is the ichthyological collection, which consists of about 1,000 specimens, mostly from the Sicilian seas, and more than 1,000 skeletal and anatomical displays. The ornithological collection features numerous specimens of European, African, and Central-South American fauna. The collections are completed by those of mammals, marine invertebrates, reptiles and amphibians, including herpetological, malacological, and entomological collections.
