The core of the museum’s heritage is made up of the Cathedral’s Treasure, a considerable number of silver liturgical items from Naples and Sicily, and numerous sacred vestments; in particular, the latter document the exquisite textile manufacturing culture of Catanzaro. The numerous reliquaries, with precious examples dating from the 14th to the 17th century, and the paintings mostly originating from parish or convent churches no longer existing, all dating from the 1600s to the 1800s, testify to the diocese’s history of faith. The exhibition itinerary is enriched by marble artifacts, such as the altar frontal of St. Vitalian and altar angels, as well as a small number of intricately carved and painted wooden sculptures and terracotta.
