Owned by the University of Palermo, it houses collections dating mainly to the second half of the nineteenth century. Notable is the ichthyological collection, which consists of about 1,000 specimens, mostly from the Sicilian seas, and more than 1,000 skeletal and anatomical apparatuses. In the ornithological collection, numerous specimens of European, African, and South American fauna. The collections are completed by those of mammals, marine invertebrates, reptiles, and amphibians, as well as herpetology, malacology, and entomology collections
