Owned by the University of Palermo, it houses collections mainly dating back to the second half of the nineteenth century. Notable is the ichthyology collection, which consists of about 1,000 specimens, mostly from the seas of Sicily, and more than 1,000 skeletal and anatomical apparatuses. In the ornithological collection, numerous specimens of European, African, and Central-South American fauna. The collections are completed by those of mammals, marine invertebrates, reptiles and amphibians, herpetology, malacology, and entomology
