Museum of Sacred Art of Alcamo

The museum of sacred art of the basilica “Maria SS. Assunta” is located in the heart of the historic center of Alcamo and was created to enhance a historical and artistic heritage of remarkable interest, coming not only from the basilica’s own deposits but also from churches, convents, and monasteries suppressed by the abrogative laws of 1866.

The museum of sacred art is entirely on the ground floor, where paintings, sculptures, silverware (chalices, pyxides, monstrances, reliquaries, trays, censers, navettes, ewers, brooches, pastoral staffs, candlesticks, crowns, bells, fragments, crucifixes, showcases, vases), missals, antiphonaries, nativity scenes, wax sculptures, sacred vestments (chasubles, tunics, stoles, humeral veils, copes) are displayed.

One hundred and fifty precious works are exhibited in the Museum of Sacred Art of the Basilica Maria SS. Assunta of Alcamo.
