The sacred art museum of the basilica “Maria SS. Assunta” is located in the heart of the historic center of Alcamo and was created with the intention of enhancing a historical and artistic heritage of considerable interest coming not only from the deposits of the same, but also from churches, convents, and monasteries suppressed by the subversive laws of 1866.
The sacred art museum is entirely developed on the ground floor, where paintings, sculptures, silverware (chalices, pyxides, monstrances, reliquaries, trays, censers, ships, ewers, aquamaniles, pitchers, pastoral staffs, candlesticks, crowns, bells, glorifiers, crucifixes, cases, vases), missals, antiphonaries, nativity scenes, wax sculptures, sacred vestments (chasubles, tunicles, stoles, humeral veils, copes) are displayed.
One hundred and fifty precious works are exhibited in the sacred art museum of the Basilica Maria SS. Assunta of Alcamo.
