Located within the Lanolina Villa park in a building designed by architect F. Minissi, the Museum houses works arranged according to topographical and chronological criteria, dating from prehistoric times to the Greek age. The first core of its collection originated from the archbishop’s collection of the late eighteenth century, to which were added items donated and materials unearthed during excavation campaigns in the area, aimed at recovering the ancient sites of Akrai, Tapsos, Megara Hyblaea, Pantalica and many others. Noteworthy is the prestigious Coin Cabinet illustrating the extraordinary monetary production of the Greek colonies of Sicily.
