The sacred art museum of the basilica “Maria SS. Assunta” is located in the heart of the historic center of Alcamo and was established with the aim of enhancing a historical and artistic heritage of considerable interest coming not only from the same deposits, but also from churches, convents, and monasteries suppressed by the subversive laws of 1866.
The sacred art museum is entirely on the ground floor, where paintings, sculptures, silverware (chalices, pyxides, monstrances, reliquaries, trays, censers, navettes, aquamaniles, pitchers, pastoral staffs, candlesticks, crowns, bells, gloria cards, crucifixes, display cases, vases), missals, antiphonaries, nativity scenes, wax sculptures, sacred vestments (chasubles, tunicles, stoles, shoulder veils, copes) are exhibited.
One hundred and fifty precious works are displayed in the sacred art museum of the Basilica Maria SS. Assunta of Alcamo.
