The Geological Museum was established in 1860 by Gaetano Giorgio Gemmellaro, the first Professor of Geology and Mineralogy at the University of Palermo and one of the founders of stratigraphic Paleontology. It displays paleontological stratigraphic and systematic scientific collections, fossil vertebrates, micropaleontological, paleobotanical, lithological, mineralogical, palethnological, educational, comparative collections, and casts.
