Il Museo Geologico was created in 1860 by Gaetano Giorgio Gemmellaro, the first Professor of Geology and Mineralogy at the University of Palermo and one of the founders of stratigraphic Paleontology. It exhibits paleontological, stratigraphic, and systematic scientific collections, fossil vertebrates, micro-paleontological, paleobotanical, lithological, mineralogical, paleontological, educational, comparative collections, and casts.
