With the contribution of C.I.A.V (Valnerina Environment Initiatives Center), the Documentation Center of the Protected Natural Area of the Nel Nera River Park was established in Collestatte, including the ornithological and mycological museum sections. Designed by the Park Authority, the Center, housed within the rooms of Palazzo Magalotti, is the first example of a natural history museum in our province. Spread over two levels, inside you can admire a rich collection of stuffed birds, representative of both local and Italian species, including the Melanistic Tawny Owl, with its unusual pigmentation; and plaster replicas, crafted by a skilled artisan, of the most common species of mushrooms, edible and non-edible, where you can appreciate the shape and size, rendered with meticulousness and scientific rigor. The Center features an educational section dedicated to environmental education for children, who participate in guided tours and workshops focused on play and manual activities.
