The Exhibition is set up in the 14th-century former church of San Tommaso, located in the eastern sector of the historic center of Terni.
The collection as a whole is an interesting group of materials among the most complete in Italy for the study of micromammals developed during the Plio-Pleistocene and among the most important in Umbria for the presence of vertebrates.
The facility houses several thousand pieces, of which approximately 300 specimens are exhibited, related to fossils of both continental and marine origin coming from southern Umbria. Through collaboration with other research institutes, the continuous scientific updating of the facility is guaranteed, which periodically enriches its collection through excavations and field surveys. One section is entirely dedicated to the evolutionary history of the Homo genus.
