The castle of Brindisi was built by Emperor Frederick II in the first half of the 13th century. Later restored by the Angevins, at the end of the 15th century the castle was expanded by the Aragonese and, finally, in the 16th century the new interventions ordered by Charles V definitively strengthened its structure.
