The archaeological park of Monte Sannace includes extensive settlement areas of the most important center of ancient Peucezia, particularly flourishing between the 6th and 4th centuries BC. On the hill stands the acropolis with public buildings, aristocratic residences, and large tombs decorated in the Greco-Oriental style. Numerous houses and groups of burials are located in the flat area, all variously enclosed by an imposing defensive system formed by a triple city wall. Outside the urban area lies the necropolis with rich funerary furnishings made from fine pottery.
