The cathedral of Otranto is located in the wonderful old village, the historic heart of Otranto, just steps from the bastions; surrounded by the oldest buildings and charming cobbled alleys.
On the facade, a large Renaissance rose window stands out, shining under the sun’s rays and overlooking an elegant Baroque portal. The interiors, with three naves, exude incredible charm, helped by the spectacular floor mosaic, which depicts the Tree of Life and is considered by scholars to be the largest in Europe, created between 1163 and 1165 by the monk Pantaleone, using over six hundred thousand limestone tiles.
