What to see in Hamburg: places of interest
In Hamburg the things to see are really numerous and it would take several days to be able to visit it all in the best way. However, we want to propose some of the most important places that you absolutely cannot miss even if you only have at your disposal a weekend in Hamburg.
1 Hamburg City Hall
Hamburg City Hall: it is one of the few eccentric monuments, from an architectural point of view, in Hamburg. It is characterized by a mix of styles: baroque, gothic, and neo-renaissance. The facade is 111 meters long, and in the middle there is a clock tower 112 meters high. The building houses the Hamburg Senate and is located in Rathausmarkt square, which is fully pedestrianized.

2 St. Michael’s Church
The St. Michael’s Church (Sankt Michaelis) is the Protestant cathedral and is, without a doubt, the most beloved building by the citizens of Hamburg. By climbing the 82-meter-high tower, you can enjoy the view over the entire city. To be included in the list “Hamburg: what to visit.”

3 Kunsthalle Museum
Kunsthalle is the city’s museum of ancient, modern, and contemporary art. Inside are preserved works of inestimable value. From Tiepolo and Bernini, to Rembrandt, Manet, Paul Klee, Munch, to name just a few of the artists whose works you can admire. Among the things to include in the “What to do in Hamburg” list.

4 Speicherstadt
Its literal meaning is “city of warehouses.” It is precisely in this area, in fact, that you can observe all the warehouses of the Port of Hamburg (the most important port in Germany and one of the main ones in all of Europe). This district, built over time, has become the largest warehouse area in the world.

5 Miniatur Wunderland
Miniatur Wunderland is the 1:87 scale reconstruction of the city of Hamburg, other German towns, the Alps, Switzerland, America, and Scandinavia, Italy, and France. A visit to this amusement park is a must on your visit and should be included in the list “Hamburg: what to do.” It will surprise you!

6 Jungfernstieg
The shopping street of Hamburg is Jungfernstieg. Full of luxury boutiques, restaurants, hotels, and cafes, it is also the place where Hamburg’s nightlife develops.

7 The Hamburger Dom Festival
Called the Hamburger Dom (cathedral), the great popular festival takes place in Hamburg three times a year (in spring, summer, and winter). The unusual name derives from the cathedral of Saint Mary, where already in the 11th century street vendors, artisans, acrobats, and charlatans used to take shelter from cold and bad weather. In 1334, however, the archbishop imposed that they leave the church, and the colorful circus of wonders moved outdoors onto the adjacent meadow called Heiliggeistfeld. Even today, the most spectacular festival in northern Germany takes place here. Loved by Hamburgers as well as visitors, the Hamburger Dom is a gigantic carousel of old and modern rides, toy stalls, food stands, and amusement park attractions stretching nearly three kilometers and attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors. In the surroundings of Hamburg it is also possible to go surfing.
