The Sagredo Casino

From the Music Room, a small door leads, through a secret passage, to the Hall of the Arts, composed of a series of rooms decorated with stuccoes and bas-reliefs representing birds, exotic animals, symbols of the arts, and trophies. These environments once housed the Sagredo Casino and have now been converted into two elegant guest suites, complete with a small lounge. The decoration of the alcove room is currently preserved at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

A curiosity: the surname Sagredo derives from the word “secret,” as it was said that the family was secretly an advisor to the emperor, having distant Roman origins. Governors of Dalmatia, the Sagredo family arrived in Venice in the 9th century, where they became part of the Great Council in 1100 for having brought the city of Sebenico under the dominion of the Serenissima.

The Tiepolo Room

Guests, as well as tourists visiting Venice, can visit this room which houses a canvas by Giambattista Tiepolo dating back to around 1740. The painting, in which two cherubs in flight can still be distinguished, probably depicted a tribute to Venice.

“Shakespeare in Veneto”

The Ca’ Sagredo Hotel in Venice hosts one of the stops of the touring theater festival “Shakespeare in Veneto” to relive, 400 years after the poet’s death, the words of Shakespeare, in the original language (English). “Othello” will be performed on October 26, November 16 and 30, and December 7. Start time: 7:00 PM. Price: 45.00 euros. Upon arrival, spectators will be offered a welcome cocktail. At the end of the show, a Shakespearean menu dinner is offered at the cost of 65.00 euros per person, drinks excluded.

With the chef at the market

Chef Damiano Bassano from Ca’ Sagredo Hotel accompanies tourists to discover the colors and flavors of the city at the historic Rialto market: he teaches how to shop and buy the best local products, just like true Venetians. Spending the morning among the stalls to find seasonal vegetables and quality raw materials becomes a useful and fun experience. Then the lesson continues in the kitchen. Here you learn how to fillet fish and clean shellfish. Thus, “moeche,” mantis shrimps, and lobsters can then also be prepared at home. At the stove, various cooking techniques are tried, secrets of the chef are discovered by watching closely, and finally, everyone sits at the table to enjoy what has been prepared.
