La mobility of the instruments of the Planetarium of Ravenna allows the sky to be shown at any latitude. The apparent movements of the celestial vault and the succession of day and night are also represented at higher speed. A floor plan model illustrates the solar system with the zodiac belt.
The simulation of the falling star rain, the view of the planet Jupiter with the four Galilean satellites, and the representation of a rotating galaxy are very impressive. On the dome, the most important reference elements of astronomical geography and graduated scales for calculating astronomical coordinates are projected. On the southeast wall of the planetarium, an imposing sundial was created by the gnomonist Mario Arnaldi. The planetarium terrace is periodically used for public observations.
